A WIRRAL charity has revealed how much it raised to help adults with learning disabilities following its annual seaside walk.

Wirral Mencap holds their accessible Seaside Walk every year, an annual tradition since lockdown.

Participants start at Seacombe Ferry Terminal and walk either 2 miles to the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton or 10 miles to the Green Lodge Hotel in Hoylake

This year’s walk took place on Saturday September 21 with 50 people taking part to raise funds for Wirral Mencap.

Wirral Mencap’s Fundraiser, Becca Chapman, said: “The Seaside Walk is a fantastic opportunity to showcase exactly what Wirral Mencap is about.

“Inclusivity and accessibility are at the heart of everything we do, and this walk is no different.

“This walk was open to anyone and everyone: we had Wirral Mencap members, family and friends, staff, local businesspeople, children, and even a dog!

“A huge well done to all of our walkers and to all those who supported them.”

The charity raised £1,750 following the walk.

The money raised from the walk will be used to continue the services that Wirral Mencap provides for adults with learning disabilities in Wirral including weekly social clubs, courses such as cookery, friendship, and walking football, and Wirral Mencap’s information, advice, and advocacy service.
