A WIRRAL care home has been recognised for its work with lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people.

Bebington Care Home has achieved Pride UK Quality Standard branding which is awarded to UK organisations assessed as providing quality goods and services for the LGBTQ+ community.

Assessment takes place over several months in order to achieve satisfactory completion of the quality standard elements of identity, communication, policy, safety and staffing.

Bebington Care Home has now received confirmation of the award and becomes one of the first care homes in the North West to achieve the standard.

The home's manager, Paul Williams, said: "Bebington Care Home wished to demonstrate the organisation's LGBTQ+ inclusivity against the Pride UK Care Quality Standard priorities and applied for accreditation.

"Achieving the UK Pride quality standard has been enjoyable - it has emphasised the importance of creating a positive and memorable experience for everyone involved.

"As the lead manager of Pride UK, the role has deepened my connection to the LGBTQ+ community, allowing me to witness the positive impact of representation and advocacy first hand.

"Implementing the Pride UK quality standard had a significant impact on the team. By setting clear standards for diversity, inclusion, and event excellence, it has helped to foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and mutual respect."

Bebington Care Home is one of the largest care homes in Wirral with 80 rooms and all its staff have had LGBTQ+ awareness training.

The care home also welcomes same-sex couples and allows private time for couples and the sharing of rooms.
