Flooding has caused disruption on the railways at Hooton today (Monday, September 30).
Merseyrail had initially expected to be providing rail replacement services at Hooton from the outset on Monday, as persistent overnight rain raised the risk of flooding in the area.
However, commuters were able to get trains on the Chester line as normal.
But the rain has continued through the morning and Merseyrail has now announced that services on the Chester line will run between Hooton and Liverpool.
A rail replacement service will now run between Chester and Hooton.
The yellow weather warning for heavy rain remains in place for the region until 8pm on Monday.
Thereafter, the weather is expected to take a turn for the better for much of the rest of the week.
