A YMCA building in Tranmere has been evacuated after a fire broke out.
Fire crews were called to the multi-floor building on Whetstone Lane in Tranmere at around 3.22pm this afternoon (Friday, September 27).
Six fire engines attended to tackle the blaze which had broken out in a flat on the first floor.
Firefighters extinguish the fire and carried out a search for other occupants.
Crews evacuated the full building with all people being accounted for.
A Merseyside Fire & Rescue spokesperson said: “Fire crews have been called to a fire on the first floor of a multi-floor building on Whetstone Lane, Tranmere this afternoon.
“Crews were alerted at 3.22pm and on scene at 3.26pm, with six fire engines currently in attendance.
“Crews arrived to find a fire in a flat on the first floor, and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered under rapid deployment with a high pressure hose reel simultaneously fighting the fire and carrying out a search for occupants.
“The fire was extinguished by 3.48pm and six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus carried out a search of the first floor.
“A full evacuation has taken place and ventilation of the first and second floor is in progress.
“All persons have now been accounted for.”
