A MOTORIST has been taken to hospital following a crash in Pensby earlier this afternoon (Friday, September 27). 

Emergency services were called to Pensby Road at 1.25pm to reports of a Mercedes hitting a tree. The driver was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Merseyside Police has described the incident as a "serious road traffic collision" (RTC). 

Pensby Road is closed in both directions from Laurel Hurst Road to Rosemead Avenue and motorists are being advised to avoid the area where possible while work continues at the scene.
