ONE-MAN band Tom Vek, who combines electronic music with indie rock, punk with dance, is heading for Birkenhead's Future Yard for a gig this autumn.
The UK-based recording artist who burst on the scene with his now cult classic 2005 debut album We Have Sound also returns to the road to play his extensive catalogue and the recently released new EP, Confirm Yourself, to fans across the country.
After the avant-garde mix of sounds of Tom’s fourth album New Symbols, the Confirm Yourself EP saw a return to a raw guitar-based live sound.
Always fiercely independent, Tom played every instrument, produced and mixed every track. Luck, originally released in 2014 on revered independent label Moshi Moshi, contains the masterful single Sherman (Animals In the Jungle), epic Broke and what is perhaps the inspiration for the album, Pushing Your Luck.
Tom said about single Your Future Self: “Unfinished at the time of recording Luck, this one went down a synth-strings and drum-machine route featuring cautionary-tale inspired lyrics”
The tour, his most extensive run of UK shows since the release of the original Luck, starts in Bristol on October 2 and takes in an appearance at Huw Stephens SWN festival in Cardiff on October 19. He plays Birkenhead's Future Yard on Saturday, October 5.
