WIRRAL Coastguard Rescue Team braved the wet weather to carry out a joint end of summer season beach safety exercise, alongside colleagues from RNLI Wirral Lifeguards.
The exercise on Sunday (September 22) was concentrated on a sand hole collapse incident. It took place on stretch of beach near Macdona Drive.
It aimed to prove that some beach excavations can pose a real risk to visitors, particularly small children.
Together, they rehearsed the communication, steps and techniques required for locating and rescuing someone trapped under sand, quickly and most importantly safely.
Michael Buratti, Area Commander for HM Coastguard said: "The collaboration between Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team and Wirral RNLI Lifeguards ensures that in the event of an emergency, our teams are well prepared and can work seamlessly together.
"Today's exercise simulating a sand hole collapse rescue demonstrates the high level of skill and coordination that both teams bring to real life incidents.
"By training together, we strengthen our ability to respond effectively, saving lives when it matters most."
