GIRLGUIDING Wirral celebrated 110 years of brownies with a special two-day event.
On Saturday, September 14, and Sunday, September 15 more than 460 brownies and their leaders attended Hadlow Fields in Willaston to take part in a carnival-themed celebration called Carnival Capers.
The weekend included circus skills workshops, a magician, inflatables, funfair games, face painting and a variety of food.
Jenny Brown, lead volunteer for Girlguiding Wirral, told the Globe: “This year is our 110th anniversary so it was a great excuse for a party.
“The invite was extended to all Girlguiding groups that exist in the Wirral county which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston.
“We had just over 460 brownies, 100 of their leaders and 60 volunteers who helped with all the activities.
“The girls had an absolute ball they learnt to walk a tight rope as well as taking part in hook a duck and tin can alley.
“There was also loads of food including candy floss, popcorn, and an ice cream van. The girls got to do as many activities as they could and have some fun with brownies from across Wirral.
“It's absolutely amazing that we’re celebrating 110 years because I think a lot of people don’t realise that we’re still going and brownies is really popular in Wirral.
“We’re very lucky we have some amazing leaders who make things happen.
“The girls absolutely loved it and some of them were asking if we can do it all over again. It was a nice opportunity for them to come out and do something a little bit different.”
