The owner of an Ellesmere Port boutique salon is toasting another award win.

Richard Phillipart, owner of The Boutique Atelier, is celebrating after being named the 2024 Creative Talent at this week's national hair awards event, Most Wanted.

Hosted by Creative Head Magazine in East London, the lavish black tie event was attended by 700 of the hairdressing industry's biggest stars who turned out to watch the crowning of this year's cohort of champions.

Richard is a multi-talented creative, unleashing his skills across a number of disciplines within hairdressing. He’s well known for his work backstage at Fashion Weeks, where he’s styled for brands like Chanel, Burberry and Dior, and this year made his debut as hair designer at both Paris and Milan fashion weeks.

He also writes, educates and instructs worldwide, works on set for magazines like Vogue and ELLE, is a global ambassador for a top haircare brand, MyOrganics, and has styled the hair for fashion ad campaigns for ZARA.

This year, Richard fought off competition from a record-breaking number of entries to take the trophy which rewards a hairdresser with outstanding creative output and industry influence while also leading the creative direction of a business.

Richard regularly takes stylists from his salon team in Ellesmere Port to assist him on jobs both in London and internationally, ensuring new skills are learned and filtered down to clients.

He said: "It’s important that fashion I work in is reflected in every element of my brand.

“Sharing experiences with my team ensures everyone is inspired and learning all the time”.

The Creative Talent trophy is awarded after a stellar line-up of experts from the worlds of media, fashion design, education, photography and film, as well as leading names from the hairdressing industry have looked over and took in to consideration all of the finalists creative output from the previous 12 months.

Richard's entry portfolio centred around his latest collection, designed under his role as the Global Brand Ambassador for Italian luxury haircare brand, MyOrganics.

Named 'Generations of Beauty', the collection features mature models over 60 chosen by Richard to communicate an empowering message, showcasing that beauty knows no age.

The multi-generational casting of the shoot shook the industry upon its launch at the world's largest beauty trade show, Cosmoprof in Bologna, Italy. Richard and Team Boutique Atelier members Emma and Lindsay appeared on stage in front of an audience of over 4,000 hairdressers who had gathered in the events arena to learn Richard's latest cutting and styling techniques to take back to their salons and clients.

Creative HEAD editorial director Amanda Nottage said: “Session stylist, educator, artistic director, global ambassador... Richard really is working at the top of his game, bringing new ideas and attention to detail to everything he does.

"The Creative Talent award is always hotly contested and Richard is a worthy winner this year.”

Richard now travels to New York this weekend for his fashion week debut in the city where he has been commissioned to design runway hairstyles for the brand KidSuper, which Richard first collaborated with on their ground-breaking show in Paris this summer, where artists from the world famous Cirque de Soleil wowed the audience with their trapeze skills while models walked below them.

This September’s fashion season continues for him with being requested to design the hair looks for multiple shows in London and Paris.

Richard’s client list at The Boutique Atelier, Underwood Drive, is currently full, and he is not taking on any new cut or colour clients, but continues to accept new hair loss clients each month in his salon's private hair loss suite.
