MEET our dog of the week, Jay, an older age pooch who is looking for a new home.

The 12-year-old French Bulldog Cross has found himself back at Dogs Trust Merseyside after eight years of happily living in a home.

He has been returned through no fault of his own and the team were hoping he’d find a new home quickly, but that has proven not to be the case.

Georgina Lowery, Manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, described Jay as 'charming'. She said: "Jay can live with teenagers and will make a lovely family pet, so it's sad that he has been overlooked.

"It may be because of his age as older dogs do often take longer to find their forever homes, but Jay is full of fun and is still very active.

"The benefits of adopting an older dog include the fact that they are used to living in a home, which Jay absolutely is, and you know what you are getting as their personalities are fully formed and when it comes to Jay, that is a lovely, loving, cheeky boy.

"He is lovely to spend time with and he loves going for a walk - he even puts his own harness on."

He is described as 'dog friendly' when out and about and loves to say hello to everyone. He loves to be around people so he would prefer his family to be around to spend time with him, particularly whilst he settles in.
