NEW Brighton RNLI are just weeks away from a very special black-tie event to celebrate 200 years of the RNLI.

Volunteer crew at the lifeboat station are making their final preparations ahead of Friday October 4, when they will head to the Floral Pavilion Theatre in New Brighton for a night of commemoration and celebration.

The event has been organised by New Brighton RNLI crew and the ticketed evening will see guests enjoy welcome drinks and reception, a meal with wine provided, entertainment throughout the night, including guest appearances from Wirral’s own Marc Kenny and DJ Nick the Lunatic, of InDemand Radio fame.

The event was proposed as a way for the Wirral-based station to have their own special celebration of the 200th year of lifesaving for the RNLI, and will see representatives from the other Wirral-based RNLI stations, Hoylake and West Kirby also in attendance.

Ian Thornton, Lifeboat Operations Manager at New Brighton, said: “This promises to be a very special event for all of us at New Brighton RNLI and our fellow lifeboat stations on the Wirral.

“I know that the team putting it together have worked incredibly hard to make it happen, and we are all looking forward to it in just a few short weeks.

“We hope that with the fundraising efforts we’ll have on the night, we can not only celebrate the fantastic work of our volunteer crew over the years, but also raise some much-needed funds for New Brighton RNLI.”

There are still a limited number of tickets available, which the public are welcome to purchase to spend a night alongside current and former volunteers, celebrating their work today and the efforts of the past. Tickets cost £60 per person and can be bought by emailing gavin_williams@rnli.org.uk
