AN ACTOR has won a breakthrough award for his starring role in a scouse comedy programme which was filmed in Wirral.
Dylan Thomas-Smith from Birkenhead picked up Best Breakthrough Performance for his role in ITVX’s G’wed during this year’s Edinburgh TV Awards.
Dylan received the award at the city’s annual television festival for his performance as Reece.
Posting on Instagram after the awards the actor wrote: “Wow I am absolutely buzzing. Thank you everyone for all your messages and support…nice one.”
ITVX announced that comedy series G’wed, written by Danny Kenny from Wallasey and produced by Golden Path Productions, would return for two more series in July.
The show has become ITVX’s biggest comedy since Changing Ends after being streamed more than six million times.
Birkenhead School, Beechwood Estate, The Oldershaw School, Birkenhead Park, Beechwood Social Club, Stork Pub, Oxton Village and Claughton Village were all featured in the first season of the show.
Filming for series two has taken place over the summer across the Liverpool City Region, facilitated by Liverpool Film Office.
Returning to the screen will be the lovable characters – Reece (Dylan Thomas-Smith), Christopher (Jake Kenny-Byrne), Connor (Max Ainsworth), Ted (Dominic Murphy), Mo (Zak Douglas), Aimee (Amber Harrison) and Mia-Louise (Gemma Barraclough).
