Fleur Ashley Tea Room in Wallasey is the latest winner in our Best of 2024 awards – Wirral’s Best for Afternoon Tea.

Ten top afternoon teas in Wirral made the shortlist for the latest Best of 2024 award and Fleur Ashley Tea Room has taken this year’s coveted crown for the second time in three years.

Amie Jones opened Fleur Ashely Tea Room and Cake Studio in Wallasey just over ten years ago.

The traditional tearoom has vintage tablecloths, tiered cakes stands and fine bone China crockery offering the traditional mid afternoon treat to dine in or takeaway.

Amie, who is 75, said: “We are a small family run business and my staff are part of that family - they help keep it going.

“We serve homemade food and cakes and our most requested item is our freshly baked scones.

“Everything is served on vintage China with dressed tables and chairs.”

Amie is a trained confectioner with more than 55 years’ experience and she has expanded what was initially a cake studio into a vintage tearoom.

Amie said: “I love the company of my customers and I enjoy sharing the creativity of my work with others.

“I enjoy tradition and think it is important to share this experience with others.

“Our relaxed family atmosphere creates a homely environment, supported by our staff and customers.

“We have had customers put on a pinafore and get involved in the past!

“We have seasonal themed decorations and adapt our settings to current events while maintaining the elegance of a vintage tearoom.”

Amie said: “I think our customers come to see tradition and bring family to enjoy our homely atmosphere.

“Customers have visited from abroad and have told us they love to see a traditional tearoom.

“Our afternoon tea has proven to be very popular with our customers, both to dine in and for takeaway.

Amie felt “honoured and thrilled” when she heard that Fleur Ashley Tea Room had made the shortlist for Wirral’s Best for Afternoon Tea and she is “incredibly proud” of her team for taking the top spot this year and “so very grateful” to her customers.

Amie said: “I would like to express my greatest appreciation and thanks to my customers and my staff.

“I could not have done this without their support.”
