A WIRRAL schoolgirl has been crowned the Boxing Champion of Europe.
Letitia Mckee, who boxes at Birkenhead Venture Boxing Club, flew to Bosnia on August 1 to compete for England in the EUBC European Schoolgirl & Schoolgirl Championships in Banja Luka.
The 14-year-old St John Plessington pupil beat Romania by a second round stoppage before racking up points wins against Russia, Georgia and Greece in the final to win the gold medal.
Sean Trodden, head coach at The Venture Boxing Club told the Globe: “The win was made even more special having won the silver last year in very controversial circumstances but this made this victory all the sweeter.
“We are absolutely over the moon with this title for Letitia. Her hard work, dedication, and commitment are an example to the rest.
“Even after the heartbreak of last year's disappointment in the European Final she would not be denied and cruised through a talent-packed draw to finally be crowned the Queen of Europe.”
Letitia is a 3x National Champion, Tri Nations Gold Medalist, European Silver Medallist and now European Champion (Gold Medal). Letitia will now rest up before preparing for this upcoming season.
