A venue thought to be Wirral's only authentic American bistro is attracting customers from 'far and wide' to sample the dishes on offer.
Nickel City, on Seabank Road in New Brighton, was established by Cory Isham, who moved to Wirral from Buffalo in New York, after falling in love with New Brighton local Germaine.
The venue, described as 'a true American gem', serves 'unique dishes and specials with a twist'.
On the menu is fresh bread baked by Cory every morning and 'quality home cooked food', the menu is stacked with 'intriguing' dishes throughout the day alongside craft beers on draft and fine wines.
Dishes include Denver Tots (oven crisped tater tots with all the trimmings) and a wide range of stacked sandwiches such as Hot Rueben, Manhattan Hideout and Hot Bronx.
Nickel City’s sandwiches are made with freshly baked focaccia and are said to have become so popular they have branded them and now offer a takeout service with special offers.
The Braised Steak sandwiches, such as the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, are described by Cory as 'particularly popular', using extra matured beef, meanwhile Nickel City’s Poutine has also had people travelling from far and wide.
Nickel City’s sourdough pizzas have gained an incredible reputation, having been shortlisted for Wirral Globe's Best Pizza in Wirral two years running.
Also selling beers and wines, Nickel City is open Weds-Thurs 4pm-10pm, Fri-Sat 12pm-10pm and Sun 12pm-8pm.
Cory said: "I met my wife-to-be Germaine in North Wales when I was at Uni there and after falling in love and getting married we lived in Buffalo for 14 years.
"After having kids it was decided we settle over here in the Wirral and it’s a decision I’m really glad we made as I love it here and love the people.
"I opened Nickel City almost two years ago, wanting to bring something different to the area, and it’s become a big hit."
He continued: "Coming from the U.S, I’ve taken some of the things that have been a great success over the pond, put my own twist on them and created some really unique dishes on the menu.
"I love experimenting and creating revolving specials to mix things up. We have plans for themed nights such as tacos nights and sometimes go wild and put on free pizzas for special occasions."
