FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze at a former music venue this morning (Tuesday, August 6).
At around 5.26am Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire on New Chester Road in Tranmere.
When crews arrived they found a fire on the ground floor of a four-storey derelict building that once housed Wirral landmark, the Hotel California, which closed in 2018.
Two fire engines attended and a team of firefighters worked to extinguish the fire inside and outside the building.
Merseyside Police was also at the scene managing traffic.
The main body of fire was extinguished by 6.20am. Crews continued to dampen down and left the scene at 9.14am.
