A FAMILY fun day featuring a bouncy castle, assault course and more will be held at Wallasey Rugby Club later this month.

The free event is taking place at Wallasey Rugby Club on Cross Lane in Wallasey on Saturday, August 17 from 1pm.

Among the attractions on the day will be the club's pre-season friendly, picnic area, vocalist Lucinda Jones and a DJ, donkey rides, face-painting, games with prizes, a barbecue, ice cream van, sweet stall and more.

The event is open to all members of the public.

The event is described by its promoter as 'the perfect thing to do during the summer holidays — whether you're a rugby fan or not, there’s something for all the family.

'Many of the activities are free, whilst the bouncy castle is £3 for unlimited use, facepainting is just £4 and a donkey ride is just £4.'

Wallasey RUFC's Social Committee Leader Jack Doyle-Knight said: “This event really is the epitome of what our club is all about — fun, community and togetherness.

"Rugby clubs are important institutions in society where people become part of a family and it’s important to extend that out to the wider community for them to be part of us and the values we stand for."

He continued: "We know that’s it’s been tough out there for some families so we’re keeping most of the activities free and the ones such as the bouncy castle, donkey rides and face-painting super cheap just to cover hire costs.

"We want as many people to enjoy it as possible. We’re also encouraging fitness and physical health so there’ll be an assault course and sporting activities for kids with prizes to be won!”

The fun is taking place at Wallasey Rugby Club on Cross Lane in Wallasey.
