A MAN who tried to escape from the roof of a Wirral social club after breaking in has been jailed.

Callum Boscoe, 26 years, of no fixed address but previously from Widnes, appeared at Wirral Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, July 31) where he pleaded guilty to burglary.

The court heard that at around 12.20am on Tuesday, July 30 the alarm went off at Tixall Bowling and Social club in Oxton.

Officers attended and detained a man who went on the roof and tried to escape.

Boscoe was charged with burglary offence.

He was jailed for 26 weeks in prison and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154.

Detective Inspector Sarah Wilkinson said: “The break-in of this community asset has a significant impact to the club and people in the community so I’m pleased Boscoe is behind bars and paying for his crime.

“Business thefts are not victimless crimes, and especially a bowling club that provides an important service for the community.”
