A WIRRAL schoolgirl has been named as an international champion for her kickboxing talents.

Lilly Davis, from Birkenhead, won the Bundo Combat International Champion title on Saturday, July 20 during a competition held at the Devonshire House Hotel in Liverpool.

The 13-year-old, who trains at Birkenhead Mushin Kai, beat tough competition against Ireland winning on a unanimous decision.

Lilly, who is a 1st fan black belt, now holds the WMO World Champion title, Budo Combat international title and WMO North West Area title.

She is also currently the ISKA North West Open champion and Ring Clash 43kg area champion.

Lily’s sensei and kickboxing coach at Mushin Kai, Callum Glover, told the Globe: “Over the past six weeks, I have worked tirelessly with Lilly to prepare her for her first international title fight.

“Those who know Lilly can attest to her unwavering dedication and relentless work ethic.

“She is by far the most hardworking and pleasant student I have had the privilege to coach from the ground up.

“After the first round, it became evident that our initial game plan wasn't going to cut it against the relentless pressure from Ava, Lilly's opponent.

“A few stern words in the corner and Lilly was quick to adapt, executing everything we called for with precision.

“She increased her strike rate, maintained consistency, and effectively wore down her opponent with brutal body shots, which proved to be a winning strategy.

“In my opinion, this was Lilly's most outstanding performance to date, and I am eagerly anticipating what the future has in store for her.

“We are already back in the gym, analyzing our mistakes and making corrections to be ready for the next challenge that comes our way.

“Lilly Davis, your future is shining brightly, and I am incredibly proud of your accomplishments. Keep up the fantastic work.”
