A “FAMILY-FRIENDLY” Neston pub has reopened under new management.
Partners John and Katherine took over the Greenland Fishery on Parkgate Road in Neston at the beginning of June.
The pair have since launched a new “pub grub” menu after listening to customer feedback.
Landlord John told the Globe: “Before taking over the pub the menu was operating like a restaurant would but after speaking with customers they told me they wanted a pub that does more traditional pub grub with a great atmosphere so that’s what we decided to give them and it’s working well.”
The new menu, which launched on Monday (July 22), offers a range of options including ciabattas, wraps, hot baguettes, jacket potatoes as well as small plates including cheese bites, chicken wings, scampi bites, nachos, and dirty fries.
From 10am customers can also pick from a breakfast menu which includes vegan and vegetarian options.
John said: “I listened to all the customers and the majority were saying they didn’t want a big sit down meal and just wanted something to nibble on so I took their feedback and created a menu based on their ideas.
“It’s basically pub grub that you can have with a pint. People are absolutely loving it so far and it’s going well.
“I’m a great believer in if you listen to your customers and give them what they want then that’s how business will fly.
“A lot of these bigger pubs will make their decisions on their own about what they want to sell but I’ve listened to my customers.”
As well as launching a new food menu, John has also brought back Friday karaoke nights.
He said: “They all wanted the karaoke on a Friday bringing back so I’ve bought that back and it’s getting a lot busier. The clientele is fantastic. We get an older crowd here as well as people in their 20s.
“On Saturday nights we have the Saturday night gang come in which is made up of about 30 women who have all been best friends for years.
“We love the 60s, 70s and 80s so we play that and we all have a ball. It’s a really good atmosphere.
“The customers are loving it. We get judges, retired police officers, and all walks of life in here. It’s a traditional pub that we all love.
“The locals have really warmed to us and a lot of people are saying it’s a nice safe environment so that’s the way I want to keep it.
“We’re family friendly and dog friendly and have a strict no drugs policy. I don’t allow troublemakers.”
The pub, which was newly refurbished in December, also offers customers a beer garden, traditional log burner, poker nights, and darts.
John added: “The refurbishment the pub has had is phenomenal it just needed some life put back into it.
“We’re getting a lot more customers since the menu change and since bringing karaoke back. The pub is a lot of our customers local and I want it to be how they want it.”
