TWO journalists from Wirral were among the BBC's highest paid presenters as of March 31 2024, according to a new report from the corporation.
The 2023/24 list was once again topped by Match Of The Day anchor Gary Lineker, whose salary remained unchanged at between £1,350,000 and £1,354,999.
This is the seventh consecutive year Lineker has topped the list and he continues to be the only star paid more than £1m.
The list does not include people who are paid through independent production companies or the BBC’s commercial arm BBC Studios.
The highest paid woman in 2023/24 was Zoe Ball, presenter of the Radio 2 breakfast show, whose salary was between £950,000 and £954,999.
Wirral-educated Fiona Bruce was paid between £405,000-£409,999 for her presenting roles on Question Time and Antiques Roadshow.
Bruce, 60, whose father worked for Unilever, is a former pupil at Gayton Primary School in Heswall.
Also on the list is Birkenhead-born, Sally Nugent, 52, who since 2021 has presented BBC Breakfast.
Nugent, who was educated at Upton Hall School FCJ, was paid between £195,000-£199,999 for her role.
