A SERIES of free events to help keep children entertained over the summer holidays is due to take place at a Wirral shopping centre next month.

Launching on August 10, the events will aim to transform Cherry Tree in Liscard into what the organisers have described as 'a hub of excitement and enchantment'.

Planned attractions over the six-week summer holidays include interactive storytelling sessions and character meet-and-greets, promising unforgettable experiences for the little ones.

The centre will be transformed into 'a world of magic and wonder', welcoming The Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, and Princess Jasmine for meet-and-greet events. These events will take place every Saturday, starting from August 10 and running until August 24 from 10am to 4pm, children will have the chance to immerse themselves in captivating stories and meet their favourite characters in person.

A spokesperson for the shopping centre said: "The free events aim to create a delightful atmosphere where children can engage with timeless tales and bring their imaginations to life.

"Whether it’s the charm of The Mad Hatter, the enchanting presence of Mary Poppins, or the appeal of the spirited Princess Jasmine, each characters appearance promises to deliver joy and excitement.

"Children will also have a chance to show off their creative flair, with a summer colouring competition running alongside the storytelling sessions. Colouring sheets will be available at the event area."

Cherry Tree shoppers will have the chance to win a summer prize, courtesy of Barrhead Travel. To be in with the chance of winning, shoppers must take a showstopping selfie in the giant deck chair, and send it to Cherry Tree Shopping Centre social media channels.

The competition is running from now until September 2.

Ruth Kavanagh, centre administrator at Cherry Tree Shopping Centre, said: "We are so excited to host a Summer full of free family fun here at Cherry Tree.

"The storytelling sessions are always really popular and we’re sure these events will be no different!"
