MEET Steely, our dog of the week who needs your help to find a new family and forever home.

The six-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier came into Dogs Trust care with sore skin due to an untreated skin condition. Steely has since been treated by vets and is a happier boy now he is no longer in pain.

The team at Dogs Trust Merseyside know little about his past life but have found Steely to be a 'friendly and confident lad'. He is said to love exploring, so will follow his nose into every corner as he doesn’t want to miss anything. He is described by staff at the rehoming centre as 'sensational'.

Georgina Lowery, manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, says: "Steely is a special boy who overcomes any challenges he faces with great gusto.

"He enjoys walks, exploring and a gentle fuss from his carers. He likes to take his time to build a relationship with new people and once the bond is made you will gain a best friend.

"Due to Steely arriving in our care with a skin condition and sore ears, he is sensitive about his ears being touched. He is a friendly, inquisitive fella who is ready to meet his special someone to share his life with.”

Georgina added that Steely can live with children aged 16 and over. He would like to be the only pet in his new home as he is uncomfortable around other dogs.

Steely has now spent six months at Merseyside Rehoming Centre so you will see he is described as an ‘underdog’ on the Dogs Trust website, which is the term given to any dog who has spent more than six months in the charity’s care.
