POLICE have issued an update after a suspected unexploded bomb was found buried in a garden Birkenhead.
At around 9.40am yesterday morning, Tuesday, July 17, Merseyside Police began searching for a “suspected unexploded ordnance” that had been found buried in a garden on Park Road South in Birkenhead.
Officers and military personnel were at the scene while the search for the bomb believed to be from the Second World War, took place.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed to the Globe today (Thursday, July 18) that the search is still “ongoing” for the suspected device.
An area of woodland at Birkenhead Park remains cordoned off as a precaution while police deal with the incident.
The force is asking people to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
