A site manager of a retirement living development near Ellesmere Port has been recognised as one of the best in the country for a second year running.

Carl Drury, senior site manager at McCarthy Stone’s Symonds Grange in Willaston on Hooton Road, has yet again scooped a Quality Award from the National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job awards.

Mr Drury has been placed among the top five per cent in the industry, being only one of the 449 site managers who won the Quality Award among more than 8,000 participants.

Last year, he was recognised with a Quality Award for his outstanding standards of work at McCarthy Stone's Devonshire Place in Buxton.

The Pride in the Job Awards are regarded as the 'Oscars' of the housebuilding industry and have become the standard to which site managers across the country are held.

Established to honour those who deliver new homes safely to the highest standards.

Criteria such as consistency, attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise, health and safety, and interpretation of drawings and specifications are taken into account.

Having won the Quality Award, Mr Drury is now in the running for the distinguished Seal of Excellence.

The NHBC will announce the winners at an event in Manchester in October.

Mr Drury said: "I’m thrilled to have received a Quality Award for the second year in a row.

"The award is not just a testament to my own diligence and commitment, but that of the entire team at Symonds Grange.

"They have been instrumental in improving the quality and detail of the development and I am hugely grateful for their unwavering support."

Symonds Grange, built especially for over 60s, houses 30 one and two-bedroom luxury retirement apartments equipped with the latest security features, including a 24-hour emergency call system.

Louise Flynn, divisional marketing manager at McCarthy Stone, said: "We’re incredibly proud of Carl and the rest of the team at Symonds Grange.

"Winning the award once is a huge achievement, but to win a second time is a fantastic testament to Carl’s consistent quality of work.

"The achievement also underlines McCarthy Stone’s commitment to building high quality retirement homes, with every aspect of our work conducted and considered thoroughly."
