HAPPY tears and raw emotion from the bride and groom – as well as their family and friends – as Sophie and Lewis Price tied the knot.

The happy couple said ‘I do’ at Leasowe Castle on their 11th anniversary after meeting at school and crossing paths again at Sophie’s 23rd birthday.

Here, Sophie, who is 34, and 29-year-old Lewis, who live in Wallasey, tell us their wedding story, in their own words.

If you’ve tied the knot this year or are planning to get married in the next few months, and would like to appear in ‘Our Wedding Day’ feature, email heidi.summerfield@newsquest.co.uk

Sophie: We met in school but years later Lewis came to my 23rd birthday party and we’ve been inseparable since.

Where and when did you get engaged?

Sophie: Lewis proposed on Oludeniz beach, Turkey in August 2022. He chose this location as it was the first holiday we took together in 2014.

How did one of you propose?

Sophie: Lewis took me out for tea at our favourite restaurant in Oludeniz and then took me for a walk on the beach. Then he got down on knee and proposed.

How were you feeling on the morning of your wedding?

Sophie: I was very calm! I’d been so organised in the lead up to the wedding, so I knew everything was done and ready to go. I was excited to finally marry my best friend. The nerves kicked in as I was waiting to walk down the aisle though.

Lewis: I was very relaxed and excited and just wanted to get to the venue. Time seemed to be going very slowly. I couldn’t wait to spend my life with Sophie.

How would you describe your wedding?

Sophie: It was beautiful and emotional. We’d waited a long time for this moment and the ceremony was our favourite part as it was just so special. The whole day was filled with so much love and laughter.

How many guests did you have?

Lewis: We had 60 guests to the daytime about around 100 guests in the evening.

Sophie: We chose a first dance version of Paramore’s Still Into You. We’ve both loved Paramore since we were teenagers and we’ve been to see them together many times.

Did you have speeches? How did they go?

Lewis: Our maid of honour, Kym, gave a speech to Sophie on behalf of all the bridesmaids and Sophie’s son Leo, gave a speech about us both. My mum Diane gave a mother of the groom speech.

Sophie: Lewis did a beautiful speech to me and thanked our lovely guests.

What are your favourite memories of the day?

Sophie: The ceremony as it was full of happy tears from both of us – and our guests! It was so raw and emotional - just beautiful. We both loved dancing the night away with the people we love.

Tell us a little bit about your outfits on the day

Sophie: The colour scheme was based around sage green. I wore wore an ivory dress and the bridesmaids were in sage green. The groom and the groomsmen wore light grey three piece suits with sage green ties and pocket squares.

Did you go on honeymoon? Where did you go?

Lewis: We went to Morocco a week after the wedding for our first honeymoon and we are going to Rhodes for two weeks soon for our second honeymoon.

Please tell us a little bit about the things you have in common. Why do you love each other? Why did you want to get married?

Sophie: We’ve got a lot in common from our morals and values to our taste in music, our love for animals and our weird sense of humour. We both love holidays and travelling. We’re both water babies and spend all our time on holiday being silly in the pool together. We love walks with our two chihuahuas and we love cosy nights in together. We are best friends and have always known we wanted to spend our lives together. We got married on our 11-year anniversary, which was perfect.
