MEET our dog of the week, Rina who is 'an absolute delight' and looking for a forever home.

The two-year-old Border Collie, currently being looked after at Dogs Trust Merseyside, where she is described as ''a very happy girl.'

She is said to be 'an expert at fetch, happily dropping the ball at your feet and if it doesn’t quite get near enough, she nudges it with her nose'.

A 'resilient young girl', she has been in a multi-dog household and used for breeding and has settled into life at Dogs Trust Merseyside very quickly and happily entertains herself in her kennel, playing with her toys, until it’s time for outdoor fun and walks.

Georgina Lowery, manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, said: "You can’t get a dog with more Border Collie traits than Rina! She is lively, intelligent and loves to play.

"She will need a household who will love to interact with her and keep her brain and body busy.

“She has had a very tough start in life, but she is delightful and has proven herself to be really adaptable so we’re confident that she’ll settle quickly into the right home.”

Rina currently shares her kennel with a dog she previously lived with but unsurprisingly given her start in life, she hasn’t been socialised with dogs she doesn’t know prior to coming to kennels so she doesn’t know how to behave around them. Her owners will need to help her develop her social skills so that she can have canine companions in the future, but she will need to be the only dog in the home. Given her history, the team are sure she will relish being the centre of attention at the heart of a loving family.

Rina can live with children over the age of twelve. To find out more about Rina and all the dogs waiting for forever homes at Dogs Trust Merseyside, please go to www.dogstrust.org.uk/merseyside
