YOUNG performers at a Wirral primary school took to the stage and 'wowed the local community' with a performance of The Greatest Showman this week.

The Key Stage 2 children at The Priory Parish CE Primary School in Birkenhead performed with an important message: 'that each and every one of us are different and that this is something truly worth celebrating'.

Acting headteacher Sophie Ellison said: "It was an absolute joy to watch our children shine like the stars that they are.

"We see it as our duty and privilege to unlock the individual talents of each and every child whether that be maths, sports, English or creative gifts such as drama and the arts.

"Our children have blown us away with their confidence and talent. We couldn't be more proud of them all."

Each performance ended this week with a huge party involving all of the community up on their feet, singing and dancing.

Pupil Daniel O'Donnell, who played the role of the Bearded Lady, said: "It was so much fun to see all of our teachers and parents dancing together.

"I will never forget what a special time this has been. I have really found my voice playing this role."
