THERE are no services on the Mersey Ferries today because of 'an ongoing technical issue' the operator has confirmed.

An X post read: "Due to an ongoing technical issue, all services remain suspended & will not operate on Tuesday. Thank you for your continued patience as our teams work to restore a full service. ."

Services have been suspended since last Wednesday. Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, which operates the ferries, has been contacted for more details on what the 'ongoing technical issue' is.

The ferries' commuter service was suspended for two days the previous week due to “operational issues” caused by a “delay on its passenger licensing approvals” meaning boats were unable to sail.

A spokesperson for the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority said: "The Mersey Ferries remain out of service due to a technical issue affecting both vessels. We apologise for the ongoing disruption and want to assure customers that we are working hard to reinstate services as soon as possible.

"We will share further updates via our website and social media accounts as soon as we are able.”
