TWO men were arrested on suspicion of drugs supply following an incident in Wirral.

On Saturday (July 6) police stopped a man on a motorbike outside an address on Hillside Road in Tranmere. He tested positive for cannabis after a roadside drugs test.

During a search of the property a quantity of cannabis, £2,500 cash and a knuckle duster were found.

A 24-year-old man from Bootle was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, possession with intent to supply a controlled Class B drug, possession of criminal property and an offensive weapon.

A 20-year-old man from Birkenhead was also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled Class B drug, possession of criminal property and an offensive weapon.

They have since been released under investigation.

Chief Inspector for Wirral Local Policing, Dave Morgan said: "Both arrests are part of our proactive work to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets.

"Those involved in organised crime and drug supply have no thought for anyone other than themselves, their criminal intent and greed.

"This criminal activity is hugely damaging to our communities, which often involves intimidation, violence and creating fear in the neighbourhood.

"I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken.”

Anyone with information on suspected drug supply or criminal activity in their community can contact @MerPolCC, call 101 or come forward anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Always call 999 if a crime is in progress.
