LABOUR maintained their hold on Wirral after a general election that saw the party take the keys of Number 10 in a huge landslide victory.
In case you missed political developments overnight, Alison McGovern was elected MP for Birkenhead, succeeding Mick Whitley, Matthew Patrick succeeds Margaret Greenwood as the new MP for Wirral West and Angela Eagle has been elected for a ninth time as MP for Wallasey.
The newly created seat of Ellesmere Port and Bromborough was won by Labour's Justin Madders.
Chester North and Neston saw Labour's Kate Nixon elected.
Nationally, Labour Party leader Keir Starmer succeeds Conservative Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister, ending 14 years of Tory Government.
