STAFF at a Wirral hospital have taken part in series of events that raised more than £1,000 for a charity supporting people with cancer.

Colleagues at Spire Murrayfield Hospital, Wirral, organised a car wash, guess the baby picture competition, a cake sale, a raffle and took part sponsored walk which covered over 1,600 kilometres as part of the hospital's 2024 Summer charity drive.

Their efforts raised £1,095 for Maggie’s - a charity that provides free expert care and support to anyone with cancer, and their families in centres across the UK and online. The charity has a centre in Wirral.

The ambition was for colleagues at Spire Murrayfield Hospital, Wirral to collectively cover a distance of 1,000km between June 14 and 30.

During the multi-day event, colleagues across the business, including at Spire Healthcare’s 39 hospitals in England, Wales and Scotland, undertook a wide variety of activities including walking, cycling and running to raise money.

At Spire Murrayfield Hospital, Wirral colleagues hosted a car wash where staff, patients and visitors were welcome to stop by for a small donation to Maggie’s.

Colleagues and consultants also took part in a Guess the Baby competition, followed by a cake sale and raffle. Colleagues finished the charity drive with a bang by taking part in a sponsored walk up Snowdon.

In total, 26 colleagues collectively walked 1,693 kilometres up Snowdon and were cheered along with messages of support and encouragement from their colleagues.

Charitable donations are being accepted and can be made to Maggie’s by donating online through the hospital's JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/spire-wirral-1718114532501.
