A POPULAR Wirral takeaway has confirmed it is closing one of its branches just six months after opening.

Burger Joe opened on Upton Road in Moreton back in 2018 with chef Lloyd Wilson enjoying so much success he opened another shop in Bromborough at the beginning of 2024.

Speaking to the Globe last year, Lloyd, said: "I moved over to the Wirral about 15 years ago and always wanted to do something here.

"Burgers were becoming popular in restaurants, so I wanted to sell burgers that were better than takeaway burgers, but not paying the price you would in a restaurant.

"We used to get messages from people all the time saying they would love to try it but they are in Brombrough and Bebington and it's just a bit too far for them.

"Anytime we would get some news and go to announce it on Instagram, everyone would message saying 'Please say you're opening a store in Brombrough or Bebington'".

However, Burger Joe has now confirmed it is closing its store on Allport Road.

A statement on Facebook read: "Brom what can we say? It’s been a wild albeit a short ride, we faced obstacles from the start but the short time we spent here we have loved!

"A difficult decision but the right one for sure. You’ve got till Sunday to get your hands on our unreal burgers. This weekend will be our last at our Bromborough location. Moreton standing strong."

Fans of the takeaway's food responded to the post with great sadness.

One said: "No way, told everyone how good you are, it was good whilst it lasted."

Another wrote: "This is a real shame, but thank goodness Moreton is strong! You are my son’s favourite takeaway, no competition!"
