HESWALL Concert Band will be competing at a cultural festival this summer.
The band will be appearing in the community band section of the Llangollen International Eisteddfod which runs from July 2-7 in the Denbighshire tourist town’s world-famous pavilion.
Every summer since 1947 Llangollen has staged the cultural event with around 4,000 performers and as many as 35,000 visitors gathering each year to sing dance in a combination of competition, performance, and international peace and friendship.
Greg Williams, musical director of Heswall Concert Band, said: “We are delighted to be selected to compete in this impressive festival.
“As a community windband, we welcome players of all abilities and ages, usually performing locally on the Wirral.
“Participation in the Llangollen International Musical Festival will be an amazing opportunity for us to showcase our talent and to enjoy performances from other music makers.”
“We are a community wind instrument band with an age range from sixteen to sixty (and beyond) and abilities from just starting to music degrees and welcome new players.
“Whatever the existing skills of a new player, we will help and encourage, with parts written for different ability ranges, and provide support and advice from many experienced and qualified musicians.
“We rehearse weekly in Heswall Hall and perform regularly at locations across the Wirral and afar, playing a wide range of music, from film themes to Shostakovich.
“New players should get in touch with our secretary at heswallconcertband@gmail.com.”
