A four-day beer festival featuring live music and a family funday will be later this week in aid of local charities.

Taking place at Hoylake Rugby Club on Carham Lane in Hoylake from this Thursday (June 27) to Sunday, June 30, the inaugural Wirral Summer Hops Beer Festival is described by the organisers as 'a four-day celebration of craft beers, live music and community spirit'.

It promises to be 'an unforgettable experience' with proceeds supporting the Paul Lavelle Foundation and North Wirral Round Table.

There will also be live dance to tunes from local bands and artists, including Crazy Moon, Luke Gallagher, Embaz, Indecision, Simple Folk, Revolution, Roadhouse, Holy Pictures, Katara and DJ Fraser Dunphy.

The Sunday Funday will feature family-friendly activities and entertainment for all ages.

Food will be on offer from local vendors including The Dough Bros Pizza, Namak Kitchen Authentic Indian Cuisine and Bangers Burgers.

Proceeds from the festival will go to the Paul Lavelle Foundation - a charity raising awareness and providing support for male domestic abuse victims - and North Wirral Round Table, which is focused on community service and charitable activities in North Wirral.

The schedule and opening times for each day are:

  • Thursday, June 27: Chilled out evening session from 5.30pm to 10.30pm
  • Friday, June 28: Fab Friday with live music from 5.30pm to 10:30pm 
  • Saturday, June 29: Daytime social with live music, from 11.30am-4:30pm  Saturday, June 29: Evening party with live music from 5.30 to 10.30pm
  • Sunday, June 30: Family Funday with family entertainment from 11am to 5pm.

Vintage fair

A vintage fair is at Vale Park Community Centre in New Brighton this Saturday and Sunday (June 29 and 30).

There will be stalls selling vintage, jewellery, clothes, bric-a-brac, French vintage, old linen and toys. Doors open 10-5pm both days.

Bird club talk

Diamond tribute

A Neil Diamond tribute night, featuring Paul Chase, is at St James’ Church on Albion Street in New Brighton this Friday (June 28) at 7.30pm. Tickets, £12, are from 0151 639 5844, or on the door.

All proceeds will go towards the cost of restoring our the church's window. A campaign is underway to raise £150,000 to repair and restore the window, which was originally dedicated to William Rowson (one of New Brighton’s founding fathers).

Aviation Society

HESWALL Musical Society is holding two concerts to commemorate World War one and World War II, especially 80th anniversary of D-Day.
