GLOBE readers have posted messages of condolence following the death of a motorcyclist in killed in a collision near Neston.

Steven Spark passed away at the scene of the incident on The Village in Burton on Friday afternoon. Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing.

In statement yesterday, the 63-year-old's family described him as a "local legend" who was "larger than life".

Messages were posted on our website and the Facebook group page CH64 Community to expressing sadness at Mr Spark's passing.

Mark Williams commented: "Extremely Sad, RIP. Ride free forever".

Tina J Stokes wrote: "Lovely neighbour. Always laughing and joking on his Harley outside his bungalow. 

Nicky Peters wrote: "Loved chatting to him when he first got Duke and started walking on Parks Field - he was worried if he let Duke off lead he would run off - he then used have two pieces of cheese in his pocket. Duke got one on arrival and was shown the other one - he got that one at the end of his walk. Duke never left Steve’s side. RIP."

Dawn Richardson commented: "I can't get over it, how awful. He always waved to me and my husband. So sad, our condolences to his family x"

Frankie Mozzano wrote: "I used to see him a lot when I was out hacking on my horse. He'd always make a hush gesture with his finger to his lips and slow down when passing us. Rip. Sincere condolences to his family . . ."

The statement from Mr Spark's family read: "The local community mourns the tragic death of a recognisable local legend Steven Spark.

"He was well known for riding different motorbikes and sidecars with his dog Duke in the sidecar. He would always nod and wave to locals when passing.

"He was a larger than life character who rode his bikes most days, going on the same journey passing through the same villages becoming familiar to all the local residents.

"He was well known amongst the biking community as well as the dog walking community.

"The amount of tributes to him have been overwhelming and he will be sadly missed by family, friends, neighbours and the countless others that knew him.

"The family would like to thank everyone who helped at the scene of the accident and to our amazing emergency services.

"They would also like to thank everyone for their kind words and tributes."

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information is urged to get in touch.

Sergeant Russell Sime, of the Cheshire Police Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Enquires in relation to this collision are ongoing and we are committed to doing all we can to establish exactly what took place.

"As part of our investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and believes they may have witnessed the incident.

"The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage or CCTV footage which may aid the investigation."
