A KID'S football team from Wirral have landed a prestigious sponsorship deal with McDonald's thanks to a former resident.
Craig Newness is a franchisee at a McDonald's in Essex but still has family and friends in Moreton.
He decided to put something back into his hometown by sponsoring Moreton FC's Boys Under 7s side and recently travelled back to Wirral to present the team with their new shirts.
Craig said: "Its a great honour to be able to help out the local football club in Moreton.
"It's a great club with superb football ethics and without its efforts , kids wouldn't be able to play football locally each and every week.
"My support for the U7s boys team is a reward for everything they do and James the coach and manager of the team works tirelessly to help, support and have fun playing football with the team.
" I wish them well and look forward to supporting them as best I can in the future."
Coach James Broadbent added: "On behalf of the players, parents and coaches of Moreton FC, we would like to thank Mr Newnes and McDonald's for his kind and generous support of our team.
"To be associated with a company such as McDonald's, who are major supporters of grassroots football, is a huge boost for our team and we look forward to a long and successful partnership with Mr Newnes."
