A STAFF member was reportedly “punched” while trying to stop a robbery at a Wirral retail park.
At 9.10am on Monday, June 3, a man entered a Matalan store on Rock Retail Park in Tranmere where he grabbed a cash drawer from the counter.
As he attempted to leave the store two members of staff attempted to stop him during which one of them was reportedly punched.
Officers attended and detained a man close to the store.
Nicholas Besim, 37, of no fixed abode, has been charged with two counts of robbery and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.
He was remanded into custody to appear at Wirral adult remand court today (Tuesday, June 4).
