ENTRIES are being taken for a patchwork project celebrating Wirral's Borough of Culture status
Wirral Libraries are inviting all residents, past and present, on to contribute a 20cm square patch depicting 'Your Wirral' to be incorporated into a Story Patchwork to be displayed from October 2024 in the four central libraries.
A statement from the project's organisers said: "It could be a favourite book, a place, people, a memory, a poem, a bird - anything goes - it's your story.
"We've had gardens, lighthouses, lifeboats, windmills, the sea – all things that conjure up what you love (or not) about living on the Wirral.
"You can stitch, embroider, crochet, draw, paint, write, print, glue - whatever works for you! We encourage you to look around you for things you could use to bring your story to life - old clothes, sheets, that box of fabrics just waiting to be used, photos, sparkles, paints, an old jumper?"
Anyone interested in taking part in the project can take their materials to one of Wirral Libraries’ Craft Groups or pop into one of a 'sewcial' where you can use donated material and create in company.
Details can be found at the Wirral Libraries Facebook page
The organisers' statement continued: If you have material you can donate (especially cotton, fleece or old quilts) and / or equipment like scissors, needles, pins, threads, fabric pens please get in touch via libraries@wirral.gov.uk. We would love to hear from you.
"You have plenty of time to get your patch to us - by July 31 - along with your name & a brief description.
"Let's put your story, your Wirral and your libraries on the map. Spread the word."
