DRIVERS in and around Wirral will have five National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing a holdup of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that one closure already in place is expected to carry on this week:

• M53, from 9pm May 13 to 5am June 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M53 both directions, junction 5 to junction 4 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

And a further four closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M53, from 8pm June 4 to 5am June 5, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M53 northbound, one to 2 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

• M53, from 8pm June 6 to 5am June 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M53 southbound, Tunnels to J1 - lane closure for communications.

• A41, from 9pm June 6 to 5am June 7, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A41 southbound, M53 to A41 lane one closure due to repairs.

• M53, from 8pm June 7 to 5am June 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M53 southbound, two to 3 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
