A MAN was left with a serious head injury after being attacked in Wallasey.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident on Liscard Road which took place on Thursday (May 30). 

At around 3.30pm a man was approached by two males who attacked him on Liscard Road.

The men then got back into a grey BMW and drove away.

Patrols spotted one of the men driving the vehicle and arrested a 48-year-old man from Claughton on suspicion of Section 18 Assault. He has since been bailed with conditions.

The victim was taken to hospital with a serious head injury and fractures to his face.

Earlier today (Friday, May 31) a 50-year-old man from Seacombe was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and remains in custody.

Enquiries are ongoing and police are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Stephenson said: "Although our officers have quickly arrested two men after this incident we are still investigating what was a brutal and violent attack that has left a man with serious injuries.

"Everyone should feel safe in their own community, without the fear of being targeted in this way, and I want to reassure residents that we will do everything we can to identify anyone else who was responsible and bring them to justice.

"If you saw anything suspicious in the area of Liscard Road, Wallasey yesterday (Thursday 30 May) or the grey car that was involved please get in touch.

"Similarly, if you have dashcam or doorbell footage or CCTV that may have captured the incident please contact us."
