THE Freedom Alliance Party has named its Wirral candidates standing in the General Election.
Catherine Evans, the Wirral party leader, is a candidate for Birkenhead constituency and Ian Pugh, executive committee member, is up for election in Wallasey.
The party said the announcement "marks a significant step" for the Freedom Alliance as it continues to expand its presence and influence in the region. It stood 20 candidates across 20 wards in last year’s local elections and offers "a fresh, real alternative to the mainstream parties".
Ms Evans claims she brings "a wealth of campaigning experience and a passionate commitment to representing the people of Birkenhead". As party leader, Catherine says she has demonstrated strong leadership, vision, and dedication to the principles of freedom, transparency, and community empowerment and is an active campaigner in Wirral.
Most recently, she led the ‘No to Blanket 20mph’ campaign along with Reform candidate Ken Ferguson.
Her parliamentary campaign will focus on addressing local issues and national issues played out locally, such as stepping up the campaign to protect the use of cash in society.
This ongoing campaign will be targeting businesses and services such as the Mersey Tunnels, who intend to go cashless by September 2024. Improving educational, vocational and entrepreneurial opportunities for our young people, addressing the wave of climate alarmism, and increased governmental surveillance and control pervading government policy making are also high on the agenda. Catherine will aim to "ensure the voices of Birkenhead residents are heard and respected in Parliament".
She said: "I would be honoured to be elected a servant and representative for the people of Birkenhead.
"My commitment to serve the people with integrity, transparency, and accountability will be the benchmark for the rest of parliament to follow.
"To all the non-voters out there, this is what you have been waiting for."
Mr Pugh, standing in the Wallasey constituency, says his campaign will focus on the cost of living crisis, social care, and healthcare, aiming to create opportunities and improve the well-being of the Wallasey community.
He said: "I am excited to stand for Wallasey and to bring the values of the Freedom Alliance to our community.
"Our campaign is about bringing real, positive change to Wallasey. I am committed to listening to the concerns of our residents and working hard to address them. Together, we can make Wallasey a better place to live, work, and thrive."
