POLICE have been cracking down on crime in Moreton following reports of drug and theft offences.

Earlier this month, officers took part in a 'disruption day' around the Whitley Estate.

In total, five people were arrested for drug, theft and public offences.

They have since been released under investigation.

In response to the recent enforcement, local officers returned to the estate on Tuesday, May 21 with Magenta Housing, Wirral Council and Biffa to provide reassurance and conduct a clear up of the estate.

On Thursday, May 23, officers attended a house in Digg Lane in Moreton where they found a cannabis farm.

A total of 378 plants were recovered from the address.

Merseyside Police said that no arrests have been made but inquiries are “ongoing” into the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Merseyside Police are committed to tackling crime and encourage residents to report either via ourselves or through Crimestoppers via https://orlo.uk/eyOTV.”
