Raise a glass to the bustling bar serving Wirral’s best cocktails

With pornstar martinis, espresso martinis and cosmopolitans on the menu it’s a popular place and their cocktails – of which there are 31 to choose from - have now won an award.

In April, we launched our Best of 2024 competition.

This year’s search for the area’s best in a whole host of categories started with hair and LA Hair quickly followed by Pies4u who won for their delicious pastry offerings.

Next up were picture perfect nails and By Taylor Jade won for the second time in three years and The 21st Amendment Hoylake is officially Best for Roast Dinners.

Then we moved onto cocktails with customers and readers sending their nominations and votes for their favourite venues to get a speciality drink.

Voting for Wirral’s Best for Breakfast is currently taking place and we’re also looking for nominations in our latest search - Best for Fish and Chips.

We toasted ten terrific cocktail places in Wirral who made the shortlist for Best for Cocktails with Cow Shed Bar & Grill in Bebington taking this year’s coveted crown.

Sam Jones opened the doors of the Broadway venue in October last year and has been amazed at the support he received from local people.

Sam, who was born and raised in New Ferry, said: “We are a bar and grill that provides freshly prepared food to order – smash burgers, chicken burgers and platters as well as sides and light bites.

“We have 22 different ales on draught and 31 cocktails made to order.”

The cocktail menu includes all the classics with customers favouring the pornstar martinis and espresso martinis as well as the cosmopolitans.

Sam, who is 44, said: “I've always wanted my own bar and grill and I started working on the Cow Shed in early 2023.

“I own a few businesses locally and we'll be starting on a new one really soon!”

Sam said: “We were absolutely blown away when we found out we had made the shortlist for Wirral’s Best for Cocktails 2024 and can’t quite believe that we’ve won.

“My team and I are extremely proud of what we have achieved in such a short space of time.

“We would like to thank all our loyal guests and customers for their support and look forward to making many more fantastic cocktails in the future.”
