THE Wellington in Bebington has undergone a makeover following a £285,000 investment by pub owner Greene King.
The pub will now become one of the company's first ever 'Nest Pubs' - a new concept from the brewer with emphasis on wet-led pubs predominantly located on busy high streets and in communities.
The Wellington is the joint-second ever 'Nest Pub' to open and will receive all new decorations, fixtures and fittings including a new bar, seating and more.
The new-look pub will have Sky Sports and TNT Sports, showing all the major live sporting events. Alongside this, it will have a regular programme of live music, karaoke and a pub quiz.
The pub will also serve pizzas for hungry pub goers, with flavours and toppings on the menu including Margherita, Chicken & BBQ, Salami and Hot & Spicy.
Outside, the pub’s signage and overall presentation has also been upgraded too – and the pub garden upgraded so it can be used all year round, but especially enjoyed in the summer.
The pub will be operated by husband-and-wife team Michael and Michelle Yates.
The couple, who are local to the area, had previously been running a pub in nearby Rock Ferry and prior to that ran their own business for seven years.
The Wellington will serve its own cask ale – The Wellington Tipple, as well as a range of other beers including one of Greene King’s latest craft beers, Hazy Day.
It will also serve the craft beer Wolfpack Lager on tap as well as a range of other world, craft and international beers including popular lagers.
Michael and Michelle Yates, franchisees of The Wellington, said: “Thanks to its transformation, The Wellington has never looked better! We really cannot wait to let the local community back into the pub – they are going to love it.
“Everything from the bar, to the garden, to the space inside for drinking and eating has been upgraded and we have to say, it looks spectacular.
“As a Nest Pub, The Wellington is going to be all about the community. With the Euro’s, Father’s Day and so many other big dates to look forward to in the calendar, we look forward to making the pub the heart of the community.”
Asa Charlton, Business Development Manager for Greene King Pub Partners, said: “Thanks to our £285,000 investment the new and improved The Wellington is looking exceptional.
“As a Nest Pub – The Wellington will be all about great drink, great service and great experience. It will show all the live sport and will provide tasty pizzas as a food option for pub goers looking for a bite to eat. With the Euros just around the corner, it will be the place to watch all the England games.”
