A TEENAGE boy was attacked by a gang while on a Wirral train.

Shortly after 10pm last night (Tuesday, May 28) it was reported that a gang of teenagers boarded a train going from Liverpool Central to Birkenhead North.

The gang then reportedly attacked a 16-year-old boy who was already on the train.

An eyewitness, who did not want to be named, said: “I’ve just got off a train from Liverpool to Birkenhead North and saw about 50 young lads and girls all get on the train and went to attack a young lad. Absolutely horrific that that many people were all ganging up on one lad.

“I was obviously scared to intervene as they all had hoods and these days you don’t know what people are carrying."

A spokesperson for British Transport Police confirmed to the Globe that an investigation is “ongoing”.

In a statement they said: “We were called to Birkenhead station shortly after 10pm last night (Tuesday 28 May) following reports of an assault on a 16 year old boy.

“An investigation is ongoing into the incident.”
