A GIRLGUIDING group has been left “saddened” after fly tipping outside its gates.

An abandoned sofa was found dumped outside the gates of The Hadlow Fields Girlguiding based on Hadlow Lane in Neston.

It is believed the illegal dumping took place between 5.17pm on Sunday, May 26 and 4.10pm on Monday, May 27.

Posting on Facebook, a spokesperson for the group said: “Saddened to see fly tipping in front of one of our Hadlow Gates.

“Wasn’t there at 2pm yesterday but was there about 30 mins ago. If anyone can help us pinpoint the likely time of dumping then let us know. Reported to Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The post was met by anger from residents condemning the behaviour.

One person said: “How low can people sink? Not a nice situation at all. Hope the culprits are found and brought to justice. Hadlow is such a beautiful happy place.”

Another added: “I think this should be a public concern post. With an angry rainbow/brownie/guide. Mine will be furious and upset! Our movement promotes environment, recycling, doing our best etc.”

A third said: “Oh my goodness. How dreadful.”

A spokesperson for Cheshire West and Chester Council, told the Globe: “We can confirm that the fly tip has been reported to the Council and that it has now been collected by our street care team.

“We would urge anyone with any information about this fly tip to report it to us at the following email address. regulatoryservices@cheshirewest.gov.uk.

“We will investigate any identified lines of enquiry with a view to prosecuting offenders.”
