A NUMBER of dead sharks were found washed up on a Wirral beach over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Pictures taken by Wez McInnes show bodies of some of the nine sharks lying on New Brighton beach on Saturday evening (May 25).
It is unclear exactly which breed the sharks are, but it is believed they are Starry Smooth Hound sharks, which are frequently caught on the region's coastlines.
Wez, from Wallasey, told the Globe: "We were quite surprised to see them to be honest, as we’d never seen anything like that on the beach before.
"Apparently they’re Starry Smooth Hound sharks, which if true are not usually found this side of the world."
