THIS is Behind the Lens - a feature that showcases the talented photographers in our Wirral Globe Camera Club group.
Nicola Jayne Johnson has shared her favourite photographs and told us how she fell in love with taking photographs with a camera.
Nicola, who lives in Prenton, loves taking pictures in nature and of sunrises and sunsets and she tells us which BBC programme she’d love to take photographs for.

When and why did you take up photography?
I started taking photos on my phone when out on long walks with my beagles. Then just before lockdown, my boyfriend bought me a Nikon b500 camera and I absolutely fell in love with pictures through a camera. I suffer with my mental health at times - anxiety and depression - and this clears my headspace. It has helped me so much.
What do you love about taking pictures?
I love nature - things that you spot that you may never see again. It makes you stop, when out walking, and take in the natural beauty that can often be unseen. I love the joy it brings to others too when I share my photos on social media.

Where is your favourite place to take pictures and why?
I would have to say the beach. Leasowe Bay and West Kirby being two of my favourite places to go. I love how each time you go it changes, from different shells to different skies. I also love woodlands and trees and watching how they change through seasons with the different shapes they form.
What is your favourite subject matter and why?
It has to be sunrises or sunsets. I also love natural colours in leaves and flowers. I am trying to photograph wildlife, mainly birds, but it is a work in progress and not as easy as it seems. I’m still learning all my camera settings!

What do you enjoy about being part of our Camera Club on Facebook?
I love the community feel of the group and the support we get from everyone. It’s great to be able to share ideas with other people and see what they enjoy capturing. It really boosts your confidence and self esteem. I see faults in all my images and when I get feedback it really helps me to push forward and continue to do what I enjoy.
If you could photograph anyone/any place/anything, who/what would it be?
I would love to be a nature photographer and work for a BBC programme such as Springwatch or a magazine. I would love to visit the Scottish route 500 as the scenery looks breathtaking.
