A WOMAN was treated for a suspected broken ankle after being rescued near Hilbre Island while walking her dog at the weekend.

Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team was called to Little Eye just after 1pm on Sunday (May 19), to reports that the lady had sustained an injury there whilst out with pet Max.

West Kirby Lifeboat crew was also alerted and picked up the casualty and brought them back to a waiting ambulance at Dee Lane car park. Wirral Lifeguards were also in attendance.

The lady was put on a stretcher and taken back ashore by the BV206 and handed over to the ambulance service.

"Please do be very careful when walking on the rocks.

"If they have any mud on them, they are super slippery. If in doubt, stick to the sand."
